Our trip to the matai river

Our week with water

This week our class has been learning about water. We walked over to the Queen's Garden to see the water wheel and fountain in the park. While we were there we found a garden with flowers and vegetables growing in it. Nunu thought it was a "salad garden".

Yummy Ice-cream!

On Friday we made yummy ice-cream. The ingredients were mixed together in a bowl and put into the freezer. We had to wait until after lunch to eat the ice-cream. Our class sat on the big yellow slide to eat our ice-creams - delicious!

How To Make Ice-cream

You will need: 1 cup of condensed milk
1 cup of cream
1 cup of mashed kiwifruit

Directions:

1. Beat the condensed milk, cream and kiwifruit.
2. Pour the mixture into a container.
3. Put the container into the freezer.
4. When the ice-cream is half frozen (about 2 hours), beat the mixture again.
5. Return it to the freezer again and leave until frozen.
6. Enjoy your ice-cream!

Ice machine

In Room 11 this week we are learning about the letter Ii. This morning Jane (Hannah's Mum) brought an ice maker to school. The children had turns winding the handle to crush the ice into little pieces. Then we got to taste the ice.

Eden said the ice was yummy!
Alex thought the ice was tasty!
Lucy liked turning the handle and crushing the ice into little pieces.
Merlyn thought the ice was a little bit cold in his mouth.

Telling the time

This week we are learning to tell the time. The children are enjoying making their own clocks and showing times that relate to them, for example what time they go to bed, get up, and lunch and home times.
